J'adore Jcrew

I went on a little bit of a Jcrew bender last week on my way out of town for spring break. While I am still recovering from the hit to my bank account I wanted to share with you some of my finds!

I bought the striped sleeveless peplum top that I have had my eye on for awhile now. It finally dropped down to a price I was willing to pay and I just had to snatch it up. I plan on styling it with some black ponte pants and a fun statement necklace.

Speaking of statement necklaces I have been dying for a over-the-top sparkly statement necklace. I found the perfect one at Jcrew, they never fail to deliver! Not too big, not too small, just right! Sadly this one is no longer available online, but the crystal sunburst necklace is a fabulous alternative.

I also purchased the coveted Jcrew scallop shift dress in navy. I cannot wait to wear this one when things start warming up. This dress is so so versatile, it can be dressed up with some heels and bold jewelry or dressed down with a jean jacket and some sandals. I am planning to debut this one at a wedding in a few short weeks!

Last but not least, I bought a pair of the skimmer pants in a powder blue color (color no longer available online.) I am heading down to Orlando, FL on Thursday for a pharmacy convention and I wanted needed a new professional outfit for the event.

As if you needed a reason to shop Jcrew...but Jcrew Factory is now featuring up to 50% off of everything and Jcrew is also promoting 25% off your purchase with the code HEYSPRING

Coffee Mug DIY

I wanted to share with y'all the easiest personalized DIY ever! All you need is a couple of coffee mugs and a sharpie. I made these mugs for my Big who lives in Virginia and I don't get to see too often. I thought it would be a sweet reminder of each other each morning drinking our coffee in our respected states. Although I did the state design, the possibilities for what you could put on these mugs are seriously endless! (i.e. monograms, favorite quotes, funny sayings, a trendy mustache drawing for your man)

For this project I went ahead and printed out a tiny South Carolina and Virginia map because I didn't trust my ability to accurately draw the states. I used a little piece of folded over tape to attach the states to the mug and simply traced the outline. Once the states were pretty well traced on, I removed the paper and went back over the lines to get them just right.

Next, I drew a heart over what should be Charleston and Richmond although it is probably not exactly geographically correct, but hey, close enough. Then I created a swirly dashed line to connect the two hearts (cities) when the cups were sitting directly next to each other. Finally I added a cute little quote to complete the design.

When your mugs look exactly how you like them the only step left is to bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes to allow the sharpie to "cure" and become permanent.

Easy as that! What do you think? Let me know if y'all try this out and what kind of things you draw on your mug!

Spring Fashion Wish-list

I have been online browsing excessively lately and there are a few items that I feel like I just cannot live without this Spring. Being a grad student with an increasingly tight budget, I probably won't be able to purchase everything on my Spring Fashion Wish-List, but a girl can dream right?

The first item on my Wish-List is this Sail to Sable tunic dress. I am obsessed with the classic preppy look of the Sail to Sable collection. This navy and pink combo is my absolute fave for Spring. This tunic dress would be the perfect thing to take you from beach to dinner in a flash. Get in my closet now!! Please?

The next item on my Wish-List is this pair of Classic Navajo Jack Rodgers in black. I purchased my first pair of Jack Rodgers almost two years ago and I haven't regret the purchase a day since. I have the Classic Navajo in platinum and wear them all the time when it is warm outside. Honestly it is one of the things I get most excited for when the weather warms up. I typically stick to neutral color sandals so I think the black pair will be the perfect addition to my shoe collection this Spring!
I also wouldn't hate having these bone and white Diamond Monogrammed Sandal, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves here.

To add to my shoe obsession I also am loving the classic white converse. I think they will be the perfect comfortable shoe to walk around in this Spring/Summer. Thanks to the fashion inspiration of Pinterest I feel like I cannot live without these bright white beauties.

Those are just a few of the fashion items I am loving right now and trust me, the lists continues to grow rapidly. What fashion items are you craving for this Spring?

Friday Faves

I decided I am going to start a new tradition, because let's face it, who doesn't love a little tradition? I am going to be starting every (well hopefully every) Friday with a few of my favorite things. Let's begin…

My neighbor's dog had 9 brand new Boykin spaniel puppies this week! They are just the most adorable things and I honestly wish I could take all 9 home with me. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can bring a smile to my face faster than an adorable puppy.

As you know, I am so anxiously awaiting the arrival of Spring so I thought the weather might cooperate if I went out and bought a new swimsuit. Sadly it has not, but the good news is I found my new ruffly pink suit at Aerie on SALE. A pretty good sale if you ask me, buy a top and get a bottom for free! They are also offering free shipping for swimsuits online. Check it out!

Wine and Design is probably the best idea since sliced bread. What could be better, hanging out with good friends, drinking wine, and pretending to be Picasso? Not much if you ask me. If you haven't taken a Wine and Design class, I highly recommend it for your next Girl's Night!

That completes my first edition of my Friday Faves, I hope you enjoyed! Have a lovely weekend y'all!

Oh Please Hurry Spring

I don't know about you, but this time of year I am craving warm weather, sunshine, and beaches. To celebrate the warm days soon to come I wanted to share some of my favorite Spring things.

Fresh flowers have a way of making my day, and Spring is a perfect excuse to have more fresh flowers around.

Beach days…long beach days with friends is one of the greatest pleasures of the warm weather and sunshine.

Rooftop sunsets are one of those sweet treats that are made that much sweeter when the weather is perfectly warm.

Hoping for some warmer weather soon!
