Lazy Sundays

Sundays are my absolute favorite day of the week to be lazy and relax. My typical Sunday starts with coffee in bed, brunch at my favorite spot, Three Little Birds Cafe, then usually some walking around downtown window shopping (maybe a little actual shopping) or catching up on some school work. Maxi dresses are my best friend on the weekends. They are so so comfortable, think yoga pants but better, yet they make you look all put together with minimal effort. This would be my ideal Sunday outfit comfy, cute, and polished!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

J'adore Jcrew

I went on a little bit of a Jcrew bender last week on my way out of town for spring break. While I am still recovering from the hit to my bank account I wanted to share with you some of my finds!

I bought the striped sleeveless peplum top that I have had my eye on for awhile now. It finally dropped down to a price I was willing to pay and I just had to snatch it up. I plan on styling it with some black ponte pants and a fun statement necklace.

Speaking of statement necklaces I have been dying for a over-the-top sparkly statement necklace. I found the perfect one at Jcrew, they never fail to deliver! Not too big, not too small, just right! Sadly this one is no longer available online, but the crystal sunburst necklace is a fabulous alternative.

I also purchased the coveted Jcrew scallop shift dress in navy. I cannot wait to wear this one when things start warming up. This dress is so so versatile, it can be dressed up with some heels and bold jewelry or dressed down with a jean jacket and some sandals. I am planning to debut this one at a wedding in a few short weeks!

Last but not least, I bought a pair of the skimmer pants in a powder blue color (color no longer available online.) I am heading down to Orlando, FL on Thursday for a pharmacy convention and I wanted needed a new professional outfit for the event.

As if you needed a reason to shop Jcrew...but Jcrew Factory is now featuring up to 50% off of everything and Jcrew is also promoting 25% off your purchase with the code HEYSPRING

Coffee Mug DIY

I wanted to share with y'all the easiest personalized DIY ever! All you need is a couple of coffee mugs and a sharpie. I made these mugs for my Big who lives in Virginia and I don't get to see too often. I thought it would be a sweet reminder of each other each morning drinking our coffee in our respected states. Although I did the state design, the possibilities for what you could put on these mugs are seriously endless! (i.e. monograms, favorite quotes, funny sayings, a trendy mustache drawing for your man)

For this project I went ahead and printed out a tiny South Carolina and Virginia map because I didn't trust my ability to accurately draw the states. I used a little piece of folded over tape to attach the states to the mug and simply traced the outline. Once the states were pretty well traced on, I removed the paper and went back over the lines to get them just right.

Next, I drew a heart over what should be Charleston and Richmond although it is probably not exactly geographically correct, but hey, close enough. Then I created a swirly dashed line to connect the two hearts (cities) when the cups were sitting directly next to each other. Finally I added a cute little quote to complete the design.

When your mugs look exactly how you like them the only step left is to bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes to allow the sharpie to "cure" and become permanent.

Easy as that! What do you think? Let me know if y'all try this out and what kind of things you draw on your mug!
