Coffee Mug DIY

I wanted to share with y'all the easiest personalized DIY ever! All you need is a couple of coffee mugs and a sharpie. I made these mugs for my Big who lives in Virginia and I don't get to see too often. I thought it would be a sweet reminder of each other each morning drinking our coffee in our respected states. Although I did the state design, the possibilities for what you could put on these mugs are seriously endless! (i.e. monograms, favorite quotes, funny sayings, a trendy mustache drawing for your man)

For this project I went ahead and printed out a tiny South Carolina and Virginia map because I didn't trust my ability to accurately draw the states. I used a little piece of folded over tape to attach the states to the mug and simply traced the outline. Once the states were pretty well traced on, I removed the paper and went back over the lines to get them just right. 

Next, I drew a heart over what should be Charleston and Richmond although it is probably not exactly geographically correct, but hey, close enough. Then I created a swirly dashed line to connect the two hearts (cities) when the cups were sitting directly next to each other. Finally I added a cute little quote to complete the design.

When your mugs look exactly how you like them the only step left is to bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes to allow the sharpie to "cure" and become permanent.

Living in Lilly

The move is officially three days away!!! I can hardly believe how fast this summer has flown by. Today I celebrated by making Lilly inspired coaster. They were so easy to make and very inexpensive. 

I got my inspiration for this craft from Pinterest, where else?!

All you need for this simple craft is tiles, mod podge, a paint brush, scissors, and a Lilly Pulitzer Agenda. 

Step one: Trace your tiles on the paper of your choice and cut out each square.

Step two: paint a layer of Mod Podge on each tile and place a paper square on top. Wait for the initial Mod Podge layer to dry then add a coat on top of the paper.

Step three: Allow the Mod Podge to dry for 10-15 minutes then apply another coat. Repeat this step until you have 4-5 layers of Mod Podge. 

Here is the finished product!

Now I just need a fun cocktail to place on top!

Day 61: I completed my first craft project for my room and I am absolutely in love with the results! I decided to try my hand at making a DIY fabric covered bulletin board. 

The first step was a trip to Hobby Lobby to pick out a fabric. I found these two fun patterns and after consulting with "the experts" we decided on the chevron.

Don't forget to get your extra large thumb tacks! I used two packs of them for my size bulletin board. 

 The first thing I did was iron out all those pesky wrinkles!

Once your fabric is wrinkle-free lay the fabric over your bulletin board (mine was an old one that I found in the attic). Pull the fabric taught and start pushing the thumb tacks in one by one until you make your way all the way around the bulletin board.

Next, flip your bulletin board over and get your handy dandy glue gun out. 

Hot glue the excess fabric to the back of the bulletin board.

Once you have finished hot gluing the fabric, you can cut the excess if you desire. Flip your board over and ta-da! You have yourself a precious homemade bulletin board!

This craft was super easy and only took me about an hour and a half to complete. I highly recommend!
